As CG readers know, I attended the Star Telegram Bridal Fair at the Gaylord Texan on Sunday and met with hundreds of brides, brides to be, MOBs, MOHs, and even some wonderfully dedicated grooms! Throughout the day I answered all types of questions, but by far the all time most popular questions was “where are you located”? To which I responded “15 minutes west of Weatherford”. At that point I either got (A) blank stares – “where”? (B) “Oh yeah, I have heard of you”! Or (C) “Oh that’s a bit of a drive for us”. I gave my shpeel and told guests about the ease of the drive, our proximity to Mineral Wells, our two closest preferred vendors, the Holiday Inn Express and Mesquite Pit and the best of our wedding packages – The Retreat.
The Retreat
At the fair I didn't have a ton of time to explain, so here we go! There are lots of things I LOVE about my job, but my drive home is not one of them. However and ironically enough, my drive to work is. Typically, it takes me 45 to 50 minutes to pull onto Forest Park Dr in Fort Worth, grab a large Coke from McDonalds and cruise to CG’s entrance. The distance on my drive home doesn’t change and I know it’s more my mood, hunger pains and/or innate need to touch home base before the night’s festivities, but I'm just not a fan.
I make my drive a lot, so I can definitely say I know exactly what some couples are thinking when they imagine their drive home after the wedding. I obviously don’t blame you at all, however I do if (A) you’ve never been here, because it’s hands down the most beautiful outdoor wedding area in all of Texas and trumps all other concerns or (B) you don’t just die of Oh.My.God Perfectness when I tell you about the Retreat.
